After searching on internet for something to kill stink bugs (shield bugs)found a poison (Cypermethrin) that kills em , found cyper eight was the only one in this area that had it. Mixed it one oz per gal and has been killing stink bugs for 3 weeks. Sprayed it around doors and windows and along eves and finding dead stink bugs by the dozen every morning around every door and window. Follow all directions for this, not to be used around pets and anything eatable. Wash off door handles and anything else you are gonna touch, This stuff is TOXIC! Wear disposable gloves! It does kill stink bugs, for sure
I ordered the solids (in sachet-type bags) and the oil to refresh them after they lose potency. Have not had them long enough to know when I'll need to refresh, but the oil was not expensive for its size, so it should last a very long time. We had mice in our pantry, which is next to the garage (where I suspect they were getting in - we live out in the country, so mice here are a given). We use live traps and release FAR from the house (more than a mile). We were catching at least one per day. I opened the box to check for contents. I did not have time to place in the actual pantry closet, so just put the opened box next to it. With just the box opened I could smell the mint (very pleasant) - after that day we have caught no mice and have seen no evidence (eww) of them! This worked very well and I will continue to use in the pantry, attic and plan to order more for the garage. Happy customers!!!
I am a mosquito magnet and an avid gardener. Liquid Net Insect Repellent is an excellent shield against mosquito bites. Its scent is very similar to citronella. I have many of the popular, stretchy, plastic coil, bracelet type insect repellents and I reuse them for years and years by lightly spraying them daily with Liquid Net. I put them on my ankles and wrists and the mosquitos leave me alone. If I'm wearing short sleeves and/or shorts I also put a couple on my upper arms and knees. I prefer this method to spraying the repellent on myself or on my clothes because when I come inside, I can just remove them. This is good stuff!
I bought this product skeptically. Seems to good to be true! Inexpensive, clean, and I don't have to clean up dead rats? No way!
It works, and works great. I've killed 3-4 rats in my garage. My only complaint is that the instructions are a bit vague and the batteries don't last as long as they should. When you turn the unit on, it makes a little buzzing noise and the green light shines then goes off. This is what it should do (I thought it was setting itself off). The red light - the low battery indicator - only shines when you turn the unit on, not continuously, so your battery could go dead without you realizing it. I check them often to make sure they are still baited and rats aren't getting a free lunch.
When you catch one, the green light blinks (and there's usually a big rat tail hanging out of one end!) You toss the whole box away and never have to look or touch it. And no blood or mess.
This single product has eliminated our rat problem, and without dangerous poisons. I highly recommend it.
If your problem is caterpillars, this is the best product. Not only does it kill the caterpillars, but it does so without harming the blooms on either million bells or petunias (many other general pesticides that I have used can kill caterpillars, but usually only upon direct contact and most not only totally ruin flower blooms, but also seem prevent blooms for 2 - 4 weeks after use). The problem I have had with neem oil is both the smell (I have many fragrant flowers - neem defeats the purpose) and its relatively poor effectiveness compared to Captain Jacks. The product warns that it is harmful to bees, etc. for 2 - 3 hours, so be careful to time the application (late evening seems to work well for me - no bees or humming birds and many caterpillars feed from dusk on). The product can also be found in a "ready to spray" variety. Remember, the product is for caterpillars - if you have other pests, use a different product.
I purchased two units and one had defective wiring. It was easly fixed and both units are working fine. After some 20+ days there have been no gophers in the immediate area.
Bought this trap when we saw mouse droppings in the plastic containers we keep in the pot drawer under our kitchen stove. Put some bird seed and a small smear of peanut butter in the trap. At about 3 in the morning I came downstairs into the kitchen for some reason, and I heard a scratching. Sure enough, in the morning when I moved the stove and checked the trap, there he was: small and motionless, huddled in a corner of the trap.
Took him to a nearby open area with forest and released him. Nice end to the story. Previously, I'd tried other live-catch traps (the small plastic rectangular ones), but they never worked, and I thought I was destined to have to kill the poor creatures to get rid of them.
I have read in other reviews here, that these traps work at first, then fail to do so after a time. Perhaps...and that's why I gave 4 stars, not 5; I've only used it once. Another reviewer mentioned that one of the mice she'd caught figured out how to get back out of the trap by jimmying the teeter-totter. Maybe that explains another reviewer's complaint that the trap worked at first, but not after.
Anyway, I'm happy that my former boarder is now alive somewhere--but no longer in my house. I will try to post another review once I've had a chance to test whether or not the trap will continue to work.
...Update: Aug. 1:
Unfortunately, I've still caught only the one mouse. And, encouraged by catching a mouse the first night, I bought two more traps, baited them the same as the first one, and placed them where the droppings were: in a cupboard, right along the wall. Next day, mouse droppings around and on top of the traps, but no mice inside. Over the next few days the same thing happened: mouse droppings, but no mouse in the trap. I remembered that other reviewers had said the same thing: that the trap worked at first, but eventually stopped working. I also noticed that some of the bait I used (bird seed) was outside the trap, which suggests that they've figured out how to get in and out with some of the bait. However, there was plenty still inside the trap, along with all the peanut butter. Puzzling.
After more research online, I ordered three "Smart Mouse Traps", the ones that look like little green plastic houses, because they got 4 of 5 stars from over 200 reviewers, and because they are officially endorsed by PITA. I'm going to keep trying with the Tin Cat traps, but hope that the Smart Mouse traps arrive soon. Will update in a few days.
Oh...one more thing: I read a humane mouse trap review by a PHD student, who reported that a friend of his, another PHD student (in ecology) told him that house mice were very unlikely to survive in a forest or field, and that, therefore, the most humane way to get of house mice was to kill them quickly--like with a trap that breaks their neck! If what the ecology student said is true, then catch and release may not be so humane after all! Nonetheless, I'm still going to try to catch the mice and release them--but I think I will consult an expert re: whether or not house mice can survive in the field, as well.
No questions asked, this is the best trap for catching meat eating, pesky, territorial swarms of hornets that think that they can rule us & our property by being brave like they are & coming right up to us & our animals outside!!! I have purchased & tried allot of different wasp & hornet traps lately including this one & have come to the conclusion that this is the one & only 100% descent trap available out of the other wasp & hornet traps that I have purchased & tried. It actually works & shows some success in getting rid some of the hornets on my property. This Xcalibur Reusable Yellow Jacket Trap works very well to attract, trap & kill the pesky hornets by drowning them once trapped inside. They are really attracted to the 13 Week Super Bait Formula Water Capsule that comes with this trap.
Cons: The 13 Week Super Bait Formula Water Capsule replacements are very hard to find anywhere & cannot be found at your local hardware stores or garden supply stores. They are also extremely hard to find anywhere on the web as well. I did somehow manage to find just 2 boxes with two capsules each per box on the web at eBay.com & purchased both of them for future use before I can't find them anymore. One last note to be aware of: The website for this product no longer exists nor can I even begin find a new website for the company that makes this trap anywhere on the web. Therefore, you cannot & will not be able to find or purchase the 13 Week Super Bait Formula Capsule replacements directly from the company who makes this trap.
Buy this trap if you need it before it goes away & never exists again on the market. You won't be disappointed at the results that you will get & see with the hornets & this trap. I myself purchased two more of these traps because I was so happy with the awesome results that I saw & received from it in a 3 week period of being hung outside on a tree. :-)
