Wish I knew sooner, this stuff is effective & fine for the planet!!! My babygirl is in a stage where she is scared of anything "bug". Got this to rid the outdoor terrace of anything living w/o harming us. The bugs are gone! I did not really expect too much but glad I tried it! Now we only see an occassional flying bug since they usually do not tread where the dust is spread. We put it on the floor around all 4 walls and across the window ledge. Even the large moths we had are gone and we used to see at least 2 or 3 a day out there. An unexpected error in my kitchen garbage lead to the real testament that this is a must have in any home. After a barbecue here a chicken carcass had gotten into the kitchen trash unbeknown to me. The discovery was made a few days later when magots in the garbage can grossed me out. I just wanted to throw away the whole 0 SimpleHuman trash can - get it out! The can sat on the border of my stone tiled kitchen floor and the carpeted dining area where I saw about 7 maggots fiercely trying to move about now. Then I thought of the Diatomaceous earth and put a coating down around the kitchen edges and cabinets, the can and then the carpet. I lifted the carpet to find more moving about under there and was ready to order new hardwood flooring - get rid of the carpet. After further investigating I found they had not gotten far at all, only a 5 sq. in. section. I dusted DE under the carpet w/boundaries they could not escape. This made cleanup not only bearable but easy. They went from strong-willed energetic life-loving squirmy icks to barely moving/dieing & defeated pests. I am surprised and THRILLED to say this kept the situation under control. It has been 2 weeks now and I had only found 3 dead/dried up and brown maggots that failed to escape. I peak under the carpet, around the kitchen and all crevices frequently each day since and it really is over! Same day as my maggot disaster we had a neighbor discover fleas on her dog. We immediately put a coat on her and it is done! (I know we sound like a dirty buggy bunch -I am itching now while writing this - but we are not. We have lived in the same building for 9 years and these are the first of this ever. I am just glad we have this stuff and wanted to tell everyone I know and felt compelled to tell those I do not know either! The stuff is cheap, give it a try!! ;)
